APRIL IS “FERRY COUNTY PRIDE MONTH”—MANY ACTIVITIES PLANNED

Thursday, April 10th—“Bio-Energy” from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Nespelem Community Center. (See article below for more details).

Thursday, April 10th—“Firewise Planning for Your Home & Landscape” from 6:30 to 9:00 PM at the Malo Grange. This information packed workshop will include: key components to assessing your home and yard for potential wildfire danger; tips for decreasing your risk and improving your defensible space, simple landscaping practices for fire prevention, and landscaping with native, fire-resistant plants. Call WSU Ferry County Extension 509-775-5235 to register by April 4th.

Saturday, April 12th—“Small Scale Commercial Farm Production” from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Malo Grange. Workshops will include: Herb Production, Setting up a Local Co-operative for Production and Marketing, Setting up a Greenhouse Nursery Business, and Propagation and Raising of Plants. Sponsored by WSU Ferry County Extension and North Ferry Enterprise Committee; hosted by the Malo Grange. Lunch provided for those registered by April 7th; call WSU Ferry County Extension to register.

Tuesday, April 15th—WSU Ferry County Extension office will be conducting a 3 Pesticide Credits weed and calibration workshop in Republic at the Ferry County Fairgrounds from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Call WSU Ferry County Extension 509-775-5235 to register by April 11th or for questions.

Wednesday, April 16th-- WSU Ferry County Extension office will be conducting a 3 Pesticide Credits weed and calibration workshop in Boyds at the Kettle River Grange from 5:30 to 8:30 PM. Call WSU Ferry County Extension 509-775-5235 to register by April 11th or for questions.

Thursday April 17th-- WSU Ferry County Extension office will be conducting a 3 Pesticide Credits weed and calibration workshops in Inchelium at the Inchelium Longhouse from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Call WSU Ferry County Extension 509-775-5235 to register by April 11th or for questions.

Friday and Saturday, April 18th and 19th—Ferry Conservation District Plant Sale at the Ferry County Fairgrounds. Riparian and Wildlife Plant Packages, Fruit Trees, Berries, Roots, Trees & Shrub. Pick-up pre-ordered plants and/or purchase plants not pre-sold. Call Ferry Conservation District 509-775-3473 early to obtain order forms; supplies are limited and orders are filled in the order received. Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

April 19th, Saturday—14th Annual Conservation Fair at the Ferry County Fairgrounds from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. (See article below for more details).

Tuesday, April 22—Women in Ag from 8:15 AM to 4:00 PM in East Wenatchee. Questions call 509-667-6540.

Saturday, April 26th—“4-H Spectacular” workshops at the Republic Elementary School from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Candle making, public speaking, design a dream room and many more. 4-H members, leaders, families, friends, and non-4H youth accompanied by an adult are all welcome to this event.

Saturday, April 26th—Ferry County Waste Management is having a Hazardous Household Waste Day from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Hazardous wastes, including paint, used engine oil, solvents, cleaning products, and pesticides will be accepted at the new recycling area at the transfer station. No unmarked containers, no radioactive, infectious or explosive waste will be accepted. Ferry County Waste Management/Solid Waste Division 775-5217.

The ferries are quite delightful to travel and confortable. I had a chance in 1999 when i was with my grandpa in UK since then i am in search to have a second chance to enjoy the ferry travel, but could not reach, not sure why!

1/4 of every month I keep travelling by flights and ferries and I always enjoy travelling by ferries, but due to time crisis, am bound to take flight most of the time.
